REVIEW: Murphy Park (north of Urbandale on 67th St.)

Submitted by Molly

A good park my toddler and I went to the other day is Murphy Park (just north of Urbandale on 67th Street). We've been there twice and it hasn't been crowded.

Large trees make for some shady areas (swings and a few picnic tables were shaded when we were there from 10 a.m. to noon). The playset says it's for 5 to 12-year-olds, but I found it easy for 2-year-olds to navigate. The bars on the bridge are pretty close together, so it's easy for toddlers to get across.

The park also has a large field with a fence behind home plate that would be great for informal baseball or softball games. There's also a sheltered picnic area with 4-5 tables.

Murphy park is one of my favorite neighborhood parks. It is actually an Urbandale park though - located in Urbandale. It is on 67th St....but it is on the southeast edge of Urbandale just off of Urbandale Ave. Great park - worth checking out. It is definitely one of Urbandale's hidden gems.
