Seeking relief from the heat, we decided to try InPlay and the Stadium Grill and Bar downtown. Our party consisted of 4 adults, 2 three-year-olds, a ten-month-old and a six-week-old. We decided to eat dinner first, then try the games.
I knew right away we were headed for trouble when they did not have any highchairs and only had one booster seat. The-three-year-olds were happy to be able to sit like big kids in the chairs, leaving us with a booster seat for the 10-month-old, as the 6 week old was able to chill in her carseat carrier.
Luckily the booster had straps, but it took my husband, not joking, 10 minutes to get it secured to the chair. During the wait, I decided to take our 10-month-old to the bathroom to change her diaper. Much to my surprise there NO DIAPER CHANGING STATION in the restaurant bathrooms! I was steamed.
I headed back to the table to find my husband STILL working on getting the booster seat strapped to the chair. At this point, he had his belt off and was try to use it to help! I suggested we leave at this point, but he finally got it working, so we decided to stick it out.
I still hadn’t changed the diaper, so since I was in such a “stinky” mood about the place already, I just put her on the floor and changed her.
To make a long story short- the food was bad and the service was worse. So after finishing up dinner, we took the kiddos over to the video game area on the 2nd floor.
The three-year-olds enjoyed sitting in all of the car games; they didn’t even know we hadn’t put money in, which was nice. hen we headed downstairs, or at least we tried to. We searched high and low for it, but needed to ask a server to find it. There was no way someone in a wheelchair could have maneuvered through the doors to get there.
Back when InPlay first opened, I had inquired about its appropriateness for three-year-olds and was assured that there would be activities for them. I’m not so sure about this; I’d say maybe 5 is the earliest for this place.
Once we made it to the kids' area on the first floor, our three-year-olds enjoyed themselves on the mini-merry-go-round and played a few other games. You could easily spend a lot of money here. With all of our efforts, we ended up with enough tickets to “buy” 1 Dora tattoo. The worker was nice and gave each of the girls 2 tattoos a piece, which was about the only redeeming thing about the whole place. We will NOT be going back!
Here’s what the InPlay website says about The Stadium Grill and Bar:
Located on the second floor of the inPlay Entertainment Complex, The Stadium Grill and Bar offers a new and upbeat venue to watch the big game on over 15 flat screens and our large projection televisions. Bring the kids to play games and escape to Sports Bar Heaven!
Looking for a place to bring the family downtown...? The Stadium Grill and Bar is the place to be!
WHATEVER!!!
